Building skills and being in community
Life Hacks program works with youth who disproportionately utilize Life House’s services: LGBTQ youth and youth of color, specifically youth who identify as African American, Native American, and more than one race. A variety of Life Hacks classes and groups are offered on a rotating basis, ranging from basic independent living skills to financial literacy, work readiness, cultural practices, and identity support and affirmation.
The three primary program activity areas include, yet not limited to:
- Skills-focused classes to increase independent living skills.
- Culturally-specific peer support groups, designed to build relationships with positive, caring adult role models.
- Gender-transformative lessons to increase conflict-resolution skills.
